Down Tor is a prominent tor on Dartmoor, offering superb views across Burrator Reservoir. It's known for its huge granite slabs, some balanced precariously on older deposits, and the nearby Down Tor stone row. The climb from Burrator can be a bit confusing with false summits, but the effort is well worth it for the views.
The slopes around the tor carry a Bronze Age landscape: hut circles and an enclosed settlement of 14 huts to the south and south-east, round cairns with stone burial boxes, and a stone row 316 m long to the east with a standing stone 2.8 m high at its western end.
