Down Tor

Down Tor stands at 366 metres above sea level on the western reaches of Dartmoor, its granite crown commanding views across to Burrator Reservoir. The tor is moderate in height and character, built from the weathered stone typical of the moor, and makes for a straightforward walk across open moorland.
The reservoir to the south gives the approach a sense of purpose, and the tor itself offers a natural stopping point with wider views across the surrounding landscape. It is a solid, unpretentious feature of the moor, neither dramatic nor remote, and well placed for those exploring the area between the valleys and the open height.
