This scheduled monument preserves the earthworks of an enclosed stone hut circle settlement, likely dating to the Bronze Age, alongside later evidence of tin working. The hut circles represent domestic occupation during the prehistoric use of Dartmoor's uplands, when climate and economy supported scattered farmsteads across the moor. The overlying tin workings show how the same landscape was exploited in the medieval period and beyond, when the search for tin transformed the moor's surface.
Today the site appears as low stone foundations and shallow pits scattered across moorland, best understood as part of the wider archaeological pattern visible across Dartmoor. The remains are modest but legible to the attentive walker, and the location offers views across the characteristic open moorland that has shaped human activity here for thousands of years.
