Buckland Beacon

Buckland in the Moor, Devon

Buckland Beacon is a granite tor standing at 382 metres (1,253 ft) above sea level, offering stunning views of the Dart Valley. Known for its Ten Commandments Stones, inscribed on its south-eastern edge, the beacon was commissioned in 1928 to commemorate Parliament's rejection of a new Book of Prayer. Recently, the inscriptions have been restored for clearer reading.
