Barn Hill
Devon
Barn Hill is a small granite tor rising from the open moorland of central Dartmoor. Though not recorded as one of the moor's higher points, it commands a quiet presence in the landscape, typical of the many unnamed and lesser-known outcrops that give Dartmoor its distinctive character. The approach is across typical moorland terrain, with heather, gorse and rough grass underfoot.
The walking here is undemanding and rewarding for those exploring the quieter parts of the plateau. From the tor, views extend across the broad sweep of central Dartmoor, with other distant tors marking the horizon. This is walking country for those who value solitude and the subtle contours of the moor over dramatic summits.
