Kings Tor

Devon

King's Tor is a large granite tor standing 388 metres high above the Walkham Valley. The summit pile is substantial and weathered into distinctive shapes, particularly on its western face. Two rock basins mark the tor: a shallow one at the top and a larger one nearby. From here you can see across the valley to Cox Tor, the Staple Tors and Great Mis Tor, and the industrial heritage of Dartmoor is visible all around - four quarries and the old Plymouth to Princetown railway which curves around the tor's north, west and south sides, now a popular cycling track.
