Nattor Down enclosures, hut circles and cairns

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1008711) describes two enclosures, seven stone hut circles, a length of reave and three round cairns on the south-west-facing slope of Nattor Down, overlooking the valley of the Willsworthy Brook. It lies in the parish of Peter Tavy, about 0.7 km north-west of Nat Tor.

The western enclosure is walled on three sides by a rubble wall 1.8 metres wide and 0.5 metres high; its west side is either buried or was never finished. It is at least 230 metres north to south by 130 metres east to west, with a round cairn in the middle. The eastern enclosure lies against it with a similar wall, 200 metres east to west by 115 metres north to south, and an entrance through the west wall. Two short lengths of wall leading off its north side may be the remains of a further enclosure or field system.

Four hut circles are attached to the enclosure wall and two more stand inside, along with a cairn. All the huts are circular, 3.2 to 7 metres across inside, with walls 0.3 to 0.7 metres high averaging 0.54 metres. One has a doorway you can see and four are attached or linked to enclosure boundaries.

The northern cairn is 4 metres across and up to 0.6 metres high, with a slight hollow. The western cairn, in the middle of an enclosure, is 9.5 by 6 metres and up to 0.9 metres high, and a post-medieval leat has been cut through its east side. The southern cairn lies outside the enclosures, 7 metres across and 0.4 metres high, with two slabs on edge towards its west side that show a cist. The reave lies south of the enclosures: a double-faced rubble wall 2 metres wide and 0.7 metres high, with 330 metres surviving above ground, joined to the enclosures by a stony lynchet 25 metres long, 6 metres wide and 2 metres high. It looks broadly the same age as the enclosures.
