This scheduled monument comprises two separate prehistoric settlements situated on Dartmoor's high ground, roughly 1.3 kilometres south-southwest of the Grey Wethers stone circles. Both date to the Bronze Age, when communities lived and herded livestock across these exposed moorland slopes. The settlements are marked by the remains of roundhouse platforms, where the stone-built homes once stood, and associated cairns and field systems that show how people organized the landscape around them.
Today, the ruins are subtle features in the heather and grass, rewarding careful observation. They sit within the wider archaeology of this part of Dartmoor, where Bronze Age settlement evidence is widespread but fragmented. Walking the moor here, you encounter the physical traces of a time when this high ground was actively inhabited, offering a sense of the long continuity of human presence on Dartmoor and how different the landscape has looked across the centuries.
