Two hut circles E of Foxes Holt

These two hut circles are among the many Bronze Age domestic settlements scattered across Dartmoor's high ground. Built sometime in the second millennium BC, they represent the homes of people who lived, farmed and herded on what is now open moorland. The circles survive as low earthwork banks marking where stone-built roundhouses once stood, their interiors slightly sunken into the ground.
The site sits in the wider landscape of prehistoric settlement that characterises this part of Dartmoor. Walking here, you can sense the long human presence on the moor and how the surviving circles, stones and cairns tell the story of communities who made their lives in this high, exposed terrain. The site is modest but unexcavated, allowing its remains to speak plainly of the past.
