Throwleigh Parish Council

Throwleigh is a small village and civil parish on the northeastern edge of Dartmoor, close to Chagford and Gidleigh, taking in the outlying hamlets of Wonson, Providence and Murchington. At its centre is St Mary's Church, a Grade I listed building dating from the late 13th century, with a buttressed west tower that is a familiar landmark across the parish. The surrounding countryside is classic Dartmoor-fringe farmland rising toward the open moor, and the community is served by a village hall at Wonson, built in 1949 from a former WW2 Nissen hut. Throwleigh Parish Council is the elected local authority for this small, scattered rural parish, working to support the community and encourage care of the surrounding countryside, and dealing with matters such as footpaths, planning consultation and local amenities in partnership with West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council.
