Hut circle near Ger Tor

This scheduled monument consists of a stone hut circle and associated field-plots dating to the Bronze Age. The hut circle is the remains of a prehistoric dwelling, built from stone and positioned to shelter from the prevailing weather. The surrounding field-plots show how the occupants managed the land for cultivation and grazing, a pattern repeated across Dartmoor where Bronze Age communities adapted to the upland landscape.

The site sits on open moorland east of Ger Tor, part of a wider scatter of prehistoric settlements visible across this part of Dartmoor. Visiting means walking through rough grassland and gorse, reading the landscape as Bronze Age people shaped it thousands of years ago.
