Hut circle 300yds (270m) SW of Meacombe

This hut circle, located 270 metres southwest of Meacombe, is one of many such structures scattered across Dartmoor's uplands. Dating to the Bronze Age, it represents a period when the moor supported settled communities who built stone-founded roundhouses, leaving these low rings of rubble as evidence of their occupation.

Today the site is humble and requires patience to read. A visitor will find a slight circular depression in the heather and moorland, marked by stones. It sits within the wider archaeological landscape of Dartmoor, part of a network of ancient settlements, cairns and field systems that shaped the moor's character over thousands of years.
