Seven cairns

This scheduled monument comprises seven cairns arranged across Homerton Hill, forming part of a larger cairnfield that spreads across the landscape. These stone mounds are likely to date from the Bronze Age, when communities used the open moor for burial and ritual purposes. Such cairnfields are characteristic features of Dartmoor's prehistoric heritage, marking places of significance to people who lived and worked on the moor thousands of years ago.

Today, the cairns are visible as low stone heaps in the moorland, weathered by centuries of exposure. Visiting them requires a walk across open moor, and they reward those prepared for Dartmoor's changing weather and terrain.
