Rowden Tor

Devon

Rowden Tor is a small but distinct granite peak situated in the eastern reaches of Dartmoor, where the high ground begins to slope away towards the lowlands beyond the park boundary. The tor itself is composed of the characteristic weathered granite that defines the moor, rising as a natural waypoint across this quieter corner of the plateau.

The approach across open moorland offers uncluttered views across the surrounding high ground and down into the valleys that cut into the landscape to east and south. It is the kind of walk that rewards you with wide horizons and a genuine sense of the moor's scale, without the crowds that gather at more famous peaks.
