This round cairn sits on the high moorland south west of Higher White Tor, a surviving burial monument from the Bronze Age. Like many of Dartmoor's cairns, it was built over a burial or series of burials, and represents a time when the moor was more densely settled and farmed than it is today.
The site is exposed to the elements and the landscape around it is open and windswept. Walking here, you are moving through country that has been valued and marked by human presence for over three thousand years, its character shaped by both ancient settlement and later common land use.
