Round cairn 340m ESE of Norsworthy Bridge

This round cairn sits on open moorland southeast of Norsworthy Bridge, part of the dense concentration of Bronze Age burial and ceremonial sites that mark Dartmoor's prehistoric landscape. Like many cairns across the moor, it was built as a burial monument or ritual centre during the Bronze Age, when communities marked their dead and sacred spaces with stone.
Today the site remains as it has for thousands of years, a low stone mound in the open country. Walking here, you are moving through a layered palimpsest of Bronze Age settlement, where cairns, stone circles and field systems tell of a time when Dartmoor was more intensively occupied than it is now.
