This scheduled monument sits on open moorland south west of Laughter Hole Farm, preserving the remains of a prehistoric settlement and its associated field system. The irregular arrangement of fields visible on the ground suggests a landscape shaped for grazing and cultivation during the Bronze Age, when communities established themselves across Dartmoor's higher ground.
Today the site appears as low earthworks, stone alignments, and subtle changes in the moorland surface. Walking here, you see the traces of how people once ordered the landscape and made a living from these exposed hillsides. The site is a reminder of Dartmoor's long history of habitation and land use, before the moor took on the wilder character we know today.
