Partially enclosed hut circle settlement near Tawcroft

This scheduled monument consists of partially enclosed stone hut circles situated on open moorland south-east of Tawcroft. The settlement likely dates to the Bronze Age, when communities grazed livestock across Dartmoor's higher ground and built these distinctive roundhouses from stone.

Today the remains are visible as low stone foundations and enclosure walls scattered across the moor. Like many such settlements on Dartmoor, this site speaks to thousands of years of human presence on the upland landscape, where people have managed stock and shaped the terrain since prehistoric times.
