Cosdon Hill enclosure and seven hut circles above the Taw

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1015759) describes a partly enclosed hut circle settlement on a north-west-facing slope of Cosdon Hill, above the valley of the River Taw. The enclosure is an oval 50 metres by 36 metres bounded by an earthwork 2.4 metres wide and 0.4 metres high with the odd upright stone. Two short lengths of walling lead off its north side, which suggests it may be part of a larger run of joined enclosures, though peat has buried them so the extent could not be settled by fieldwork. A big gap in the west side may be from robbing, while a smaller one on the same side may be an original entrance. Two huts are attached to the inner face of the main enclosure, a third lies close to one of the possible extra walls, and four more lie to the south-west. Each hut is a stone and earth bank round a circular space, and two have visible doorways. It lies in the parish of South Tawton, about 0.3 km north-east of Ladybrook Tor and 1.3 km south-east of Belstone.
