Dean Moor holds the remains of a Bronze Age settlement scattered across the moorland near the River Avon. The site comprises several hut circles, the foundations of roundhouses where people once lived, alongside two enclosures that may have served pastoral or ceremonial purposes. These earthworks sit within the wider pattern of prehistoric settlement that shaped Dartmoor's landscape.
Walking across Dean Moor today, the hut circles and field boundaries form subtle depressions and banks in the turf. They are modest features, easily overlooked, yet they speak to continuity on this moorland stretching back thousands of years. The site is sheltered by the river valley and commands views across open moorland, a landscape that has changed little since these early communities farmed and lived here.
