Five round barrows on Black Hill

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1004577) describes a round cairn cemetery close to the summit of Black Hill, at the northern edge of Haytor Down, overlooking the valley of the River Bovey. The scheduling falls in five areas. The cemetery is two groups of cairns, two in the northern group and three in the southern. All are circular stony mounds from 12 to 18 metres across and 0.6 to 1 metre high. All have central hollows showing early partial digging or robbing, and all have had their original shape altered by later stone moving. Other remains nearby are outside this scheduling. It lies in the parish of Manaton, about 0.4 km east of Leighon Tor and 1.7 km north-west of Haytor Vale.
