Holy Trinity Church is late-15th/early-16th century, with some 17th-century windows and 19th-century additions, Grade I listed. Historically the parish of Gidleigh consisted of scattered farmsteads and cottages gathered around the twin focal points of the church and the adjacent Gidleigh Castle, now in private hands.
The village is also the starting point for Scorhill country - Scorhill Stone Circle, one of the largest and best-preserved on Dartmoor, sits nearby on Gidleigh Common.
Not the same church as Holy Trinity Church, Drewsteignton or Holy Trinity Church, Buckfastleigh - despite the identical dedication, this is a genuinely separate building 15km from the Buckfastleigh church.
