Cairn north of Giant's Hill

This cairn sits on the open moorland north of Giant's Hill, part of the Bronze Age landscape that covers much of Dartmoor's high ground. Like many of Dartmoor's cairns, it likely served as a burial monument or marker of ritual significance, built by the communities who lived on and moved across the moor in the second millennium BC.

Today it stands as a low stony mound on the windswept plateau, a tangible link to thousands of years of human presence on Dartmoor. The site is protected as a scheduled monument, one of countless such remains that give the moor its particular character and depth of history.
