Round cairn with cist on Blackslade Down

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1003285) describes a round cairn and cist on Blackslade Down, overlooking the valley of the East Webburn River. The cairn is a circular stony mound up to 10 metres across and 0.5 metres high, with a stone kerb 6.5 metres across and part of a second kerb close to the edge of the mound. Inside is a rectangular stone-lined cist, 1 metre long, 0.7 metres wide and 0.4 metres deep, with no capstone. It lies in the parish of Widecombe in the Moor, about 0.4 km south of Pil Tor and 2.1 km south-east of Widecombe-in-the-Moor.

The Parson of Widecombe examined the inside in 1871 and found some charcoal and a few fragments of pottery. A low spread mound to the north and east is the spoil from that dig. Other remains nearby, some scheduled and some not, are outside this scheduling.
