Vermin trap immediately near Legis Tor

This vermin trap forms part of Legistor Warren, a medieval rabbit warren that once occupied the high moorland south-west of Legis Tor. Warrens were managed landscapes where rabbits were bred and caught for food and fur, a valuable resource in medieval and post-medieval times. The trap itself, built into the moorland surface, represents the practical infrastructure of this now-vanished economy.

Today the site is subtle and requires a trained eye to read. Visitors walking across this open moorland can find themselves in a landscape layered with human use stretching back centuries. The warren sits within Dartmoor's distinctive terrain, among the granite tors and rough grassland that has shaped the moor's character since medieval times.
