Two linked hut circles above Newleycombe Lake

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1012896) describes two stone hut circles on the northern edge of an unenclosed hut circle settlement, on a west-facing slope overlooking Newleycombe Lake. Both are terraced into the hillside, stone and earth walls round circular spaces. The northern hut is 6 metres across inside, with a wall 2 metres wide and up to 0.8 metres high, and a doorway 1 metre wide, lined with slabs on the west, facing south. A lynchet 0.6 metres high and 1.4 metres wide links it to the southern hut, which is also 6 metres across, with a wall 1.6 metres wide and up to 0.7 metres high except on the west, where the edge is marked by a scarp 0.4 metres high. The area has been heavily mined for tin, and earthworks from that work survive close by. It lies in the parish of Walkhampton, about 1.5 km north-east of Combeshead Tor.
