Three hut circles and split boulder, Holne Moor

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1020093) describes three stone hut circles, a boulder cut by wedge and groove and a short length of the Holne Moor Leat on a gentle north-facing slope of Holne Moor, above Venford Reservoir. The huts have upright-stone walls up to 0.75 metres high round circular spaces 3 to 4.6 metres across, and two have visible doorways. It lies in the parish of Holne, about 1.8 km south-west of Hockinston Tor and 2 km north-west of Michelcombe.

The boulder is 2.2 metres long, up to 0.95 metres wide and 0.9 metres high, with at least eight small rectangular slots on top and nine more on the west side, and part of the west side had already been taken off before it was abandoned. This kind of stone cutting is thought to date from before 1800. The leat is also known as Hamlyn's Leat and was cut in the early 19th century to supply textile mills in Buckfastleigh. Here it is 1.3 metres wide and 0.4 metres deep with steep sides and a bank 1.3 metres wide and up to 0.3 metres high.
