Hockinston Tor

Devon

Hockinston Tor is a modest granite outcrop on Dartmoor's eastern plateau, reached by steady walking across open moorland. The tor itself is a genuine rocky summit, characteristic of Dartmoor's granite landscape, offering the kind of simple, uncluttered views that define walking on the high moor.

The walk to it follows typical moorland terrain without major difficulty. Like many of Dartmoor's less prominent tors, Hockinston rewards quiet exploration rather than dramatic vistas, and it sits well within the broader network of peaks and paths that make this part of the moor worth knowing.
