Hockinston Tor lies in the steep, wooded gorge of the Dart Valley, enshrouded by oak trees and whortleberry plants. Its main outcrop extends downhill to the river, offering a rewarding view of the valley below, including Bench and Sharp Tors. The terrain is rugged, with mossy clitter and dense vegetation, making it a difficult but rewarding walk for those who take the time to navigate the steep slopes.
