Hut circle near Hentor Brook

This scheduled monument is a hut circle, the stone foundations of a roundhouse that once stood on the open moorland. Such structures are scattered across Dartmoor and date to the Bronze Age, roughly 4000 years ago, when the climate was warmer and people farmed these high slopes. The circle itself is subtle, best understood as an arrangement of stones rather than a dramatic ruin.

Today the site sits in the quiet moorland north-east of Hentor Brook, part of the wider evidence of how the moor was once populated and worked.
