Round cairn near Little Hound Tor

This round cairn sits on open moorland south west of Little Hound Tor's summit, part of the scatter of Bronze Age burial monuments that mark Dartmoor's prehistoric landscape. Built as a burial mound, likely between 2000 and 1000 BC, it would originally have been more prominent than it appears today, though enough of its stone structure remains to distinguish it from the surrounding terrain.

Little Hound Tor dominates this section of the moor, and the cairn's position speaks to the Bronze Age communities who lived and worked across these uplands.
