Red Spider
At Bratton Clovelly, Honor Luxmore, the frugal, red-cloaked 'Red Spider', keeps her widower father's house and cares for her siblings. She loves young Nanspian but is pursued by the grasping Taverner Langford, while a feud simmers over a lucky red spider. Baring-Gould's own favourite among his novels, full of Devon folklore.
