Kristy Turner is the Museum Manager and Curator at the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton. She holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Textiles and Design and began her career as a fashion buyer, travelling the world and creating ranges for high street stores.
After her daughter was born in 1998, Kristy moved to Cornwall, where she became involved in property renovation, interior design, holiday letting and running a restaurant with her partner. She then spent five and a half years as House Steward at Castle Drogo, gaining substantial knowledge through National Trust training courses.
Kristy now applies that heritage knowledge to her role at the Museum of Dartmoor Life, working to make it an engaging place to visit and a genuine hub for the local community. She also oversees Okehampton's Tourist Information Centre, which operates from the museum building and is run largely by volunteers.
