Hut circle settlement SW of Higher Hartor

Nattor, Ivybridge, Devon

Grid ref: SX 5940 6710

These low stone circles are what remains of Bronze Age roundhouses, their foundations still visible on the moorland after more than three thousand years. Walking among them, you can trace the domestic lives of ancient Dartmoor communitiesÔö£├ÂÔö£├ºÔö£├éwhere families cooked, slept, and sheltered from the weather in circular homes built from local stone.

The hut circles sit within their wider landscape of reaves (ancient field boundaries) and cairns, part of a complex settlement pattern that shows how extensively Bronze Age people used these high moorlands. Standing here, you sense the continuity of human presence on Dartmoor and the durability of these upland communities.
