Hut circles on Bonehill Down

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1002619) describes two stone hut circles on opposite sides of the ridge between Honeybag Tor and Chinkwell Tor, within part of a coaxial field system. The scheduling falls in two areas. It lies in the parish of Widecombe in the Moor, about 1.9 km north-east of Widecombe-in-the-Moor.

The western hut is a circular structure up to 7 metres across inside, defined by some upright stones and a bank up to 1 metre wide. A track has cut the wall to the west, and a spoil heap from a tinner's pit lies against the north-east side. The eastern hut is part faced with upright stones, the rest a rubble bank up to 0.7 metres high, and is 6 metres across inside. Other remains nearby, some scheduled and some not, are outside this scheduling.

Crossing's A Hundred Years on Dartmoor places Bonehill Rocks on Bonehill Down, on the east side of the Widecombe valley.
