This hut circle lies on open moorland southeast of Swincombe, one of many such dwellings scattered across Dartmoor's high ground. Dating to the Bronze Age, it represents a period when the moor supported scattered pastoral settlement, with small communities living in roundhouses built from stone and timber.
Today the site is marked by the characteristic stone-built foundation, visible as a low circular bank among heather and rough grass. It forms part of the wider landscape of Bronze Age habitation and field systems that shaped Dartmoor's interior, and rewards those prepared to walk out onto the moor to encounter it.
