This hut circle lies on open moorland southeast of Swincombe, one of many such dwellings scattered across Dartmoor's high ground. Dating to the Bronze Age, it represents a period when the moor supported scattered pastoral settlement, with small communities living in roundhouses built from stone and timber.
Today the site is marked by the characteristic stone-built foundation, visible as a low circular bank among heather and rough grass.
