Hameldown Beacon

Grid ref: SX 7084 7890

Hameldown Beacon sits at 517 metres on the eastern edge of Dartmoor, perched high enough to command views in most directions. It lies along the Two Moors Way ridge, which makes the walk here fairly flat once you're up on Hameldown Ridge itself. From the top, clear days give you sightlines eastward to Haytor and East Devon, and westward towards Princetown. The tor connects well with other nearby sites like Hameldown Tor, Grimspound and Kingshead Tor, making it a natural hub for a longer moorland walk, and Widecombe in the Moor works as a natural starting point.
