This scheduled monument is a Bronze Age enclosure, one of many that dot the high ground of Dartmoor. Located on open moorland west of Shell Top, it represents the way people organized and used the moor thousands of years ago, likely for livestock management or settlement. The earthworks remain visible in the landscape today, though time and weather have softened their lines.
Like other prehistoric enclosures across Dartmoor, it sits within a complex pattern of cairns, field systems and hut circles that together tell the story of Bronze Age life on the moor. Visiting the site means walking out into the open country where these ancient arrangements are still legible in the land itself.
