Oval enclosure and hut circles near the Middle Brook

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1003200) describes an enclosed stone hut circle settlement with an outlying hut circle, on the lower northern slopes of Old Hill in the valley of the Middle Brook, close to its junction with the Bala Brook. The enclosure is an oval about 39 metres long by 29 metres wide inside, holding up to four hut circles, three attached to the southern wall and the fourth free-standing. It lies in the parish of South Brent, about 1.8 km west of Shipley Tor.

The huts are from about 3 to 7 metres across inside, and like the enclosure are defined by low walls up to 1.7 metres wide and 0.5 metres high with occasional larger stones. To the east a short curving length of extra walling runs along the outside of the enclosure. The outlying hut is about 60 metres to the north-west, up to 8.5 metres across inside with walls up to 1.4 metres wide. Other remains nearby, some scheduled and some not, are outside this scheduling.
