The Devonport Leat is a contour channel constructed in the 1790s to carry fresh water from the northern moors down to Plymouth Dock, which later became Devonport. It draws from three sources: the West Dart, the Cowsic and the Blackabrook, all north of Princetown. You can follow the leat for miles as it crosses the moor, passing Nun's Cross and running close to Dartmoor Prison.
