Church of St Peter, Peter Tavy

St Peter's at Peter Tavy is probably 14th century in origin and was much rebuilt in the 15th, with a restoration in the 1870s. It is granite throughout. The three-stage tower has crenellated, crocketed pinnacles and an ornate west doorway of volcanic stone, and Historic England calls it a particularly good tower.

A parish register entry quoted by the Devon Church Land website records that on 21 November 1893 the tower was blasted by lightning, the north side losing 25 feet. Inside, the roofs are early 20th century, but sections of the rood-screen panelling hang on the nave's west wall, and two sections of an early to mid 16th-century carved pew front, with Renaissance motifs, are kept in the transept. There is a wall memorial of 1722 to the Rev Thomas Pocock, rector.
