Bowl barrow on Galford Down, 200m south west of Westdown Pool

This bowl barrow is a Bronze Age burial monument, one of many that dot Dartmoor's high ground. Built as a mound over a grave or graves, it would have been more prominent when constructed, though time and moorland management have worn it down. The site sits on Galford Down in open country, part of the landscape shaped by Bronze Age communities who used these uplands for settlement, farming and burial.
