An uninscribed granite boundstone stands on the open slope about 260 metres east of the Sourton Tors Ice Works. It is No.01 of five blank stones that Dartefacts records around the works; Nos 02 and 03 stand about 120 metres to the west, No.04 about 190 metres to the south-west and No.05 about 160 metres to the south. None of them carries letters or numbers.
The ice works ran from about 1875 on 5 acres leased from the Duchy of Cornwall, and its history is told under its own listing. Sourton Tors rises to the south-west.

Go deeper with Dartefacts
Dartefacts is a database of Dartmoor sites with far more close-up detail than we can show here, and it is the best place to go deeper. Dartefacts is free to use, and nobody has to pay to look things up. If you want more, a yearly subscription adds 10-figure grid references, map zoom down to 1:25,000 and lists to tick off the places you have visited, and it helps keep the site going. We would encourage you to subscribe.
