Agglomerate enclosure near Cawsand Beacon

This scheduled monument preserves the remains of a Bronze Age settlement, likely dating to the second millennium BC. The site comprises ten stone hut circles set within an agglomerate enclosure, a defensive boundary built from stone rubble rather than coursed walls. Such settlements were common across Dartmoor during the Bronze Age, when the moor supported scattered pastoral communities.

Today the site is visible as low stone foundations and circular outlines scattered across the moorland west of Cawsand Beacon. The landscape here retains much of its Bronze Age character, though vegetation and weathering have softened the original structures. Walking the site offers a tangible sense of how people once used this high moorland terrain.
