This scheduled monument is a stone hut circle, one dwelling within a Bronze Age settlement laid out inside a substantial enclosure. The hut itself sits 430 metres northeast of Ger Tor, its stone foundations still visible on the moorland. Such settlements were common across Dartmoor in prehistory, evidence of organised farming and community life that flourished on the high ground thousands of years ago.
Today the site offers little to immediate view except the subtle earthwork and scattered stones, but it sits within the layered archaeology of the moor. Walking here, you are crossing ground where people once built homes, herded stock, and worked the land. The broader enclosure hints at the social structure and labour required to define and maintain boundaries in a landscape that now appears wild and empty.
