Round cairn near Cawsand Beacon

This round cairn sits on the exposed summit of Cawsand Hill as part of a cairn cemetery, a clustering of Bronze Age burial monuments typical of Dartmoor's high ground. The cairn itself lies 190m north east of Cawsand Beacon. Such monuments were built over many centuries during the Bronze Age, serving as burial places and territorial markers across the open moorland landscape.

Today the cairn remains as a low mound of stones, weathered by centuries of moorland weather. The hilltop location offers wide views across Dartmoor and the surrounding landscape. The site is a Scheduled Monument, reflecting its archaeological importance as part of a larger prehistoric landscape that tells the story of human settlement and ritual practice on the moor.
