Wonson Manor

Devon

Wonson Manor is a historic house of probable medieval foundation, modified and developed over subsequent centuries. The building reflects the layered history typical of Dartmoor's moorland settlements, where defensive necessity and agricultural purpose shaped the form and placement of houses. The manor sits within its landscape rather than dominating it, characteristic of long-occupied rural sites on the moor's edges.

Today the house remains a private residence and landmark in the moorland terrain. Its Grade II* listing recognises its architectural and historical significance as a survival of Dartmoor's domestic heritage. Visitors to the area will find it a tangible reminder of how people have made their homes and livelihoods on and around the moor across centuries.
