Piles Copse hut settlement above the Erme

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1012765) describes an unenclosed hut settlement with enclosures on the steep eastern slope of the Erme valley, north of Piles Copse. It has twenty-two hut circles, terraced into the hillside in two main groups, 5 to 11 metres across with walls up to 3 metres thick and a metre high, with small enclosures and lengths of wall or bank associated with them. At the south end are two enclosures 23 and 18 metres across, with no huts or divisions inside. Three tinners' caches show that the site was used again later. It lies in the parish of Harford, about 3.4 km north of Harford.
