Two hut circles near Standon Down

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1011229) describes two stone hut circles, lined up east to west, on a north-west-facing slope overlooking Tavy Cleave. The huts are terraced into the hillside, built of stone and earth banks around circular spaces, and both have south-west facing doorways. The western hut is 2 metres across inside, with a wall 2 metres wide and 0.6 metres high. The eastern hut is 4.2 metres across, with a wall 1.4 metres wide and 0.3 metres high. A boundary bank 1 metre wide and 0.15 metres high leads south-south-west from the eastern hut. It shows as an earthwork only close to the huts and elsewhere is buried. The extent of the attached fields or enclosure is not known because of the deep peat round the monument. It lies in the parish of Peter Tavy, about 0.9 km east of Nat Tor.
