Pair of untouched cairns on the north slope of Metheral Hill

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1016642) describes two round cairns on a north-facing slope above the valley of the River Taw. The scheduling falls into two areas. The eastern cairn is a mound 8 metres across and 0.9 metres high. The western cairn, 40.5 metres to the west, is 5 metres across and 0.65 metres high, with an edge-set stone on its south side that probably belongs to a kerb surviving buried elsewhere. Neither has been robbed or investigated by destructive methods. It lies in the parish of South Tawton, about 0.8 km west of Little Hound Tor.
