Three adjoining Bronze Age enclosures occupy this upland site on Chagford Common, their earthwork boundaries still traceable across the moorland. Within them stand the remains of stone hut circles, the foundations of roundhouses where people once lived, along with a cairn cemetery suggesting this was a significant settlement. The arrangement and scale speak to organised community life on the high moor in prehistory.
Later activity left its own mark. Post-medieval fields were imposed over the ancient landscape, and tinworks exploit the mineral resources that have drawn people to Dartmoor for centuries. Today the site offers a layered view of human use of the moor, from Bronze Age dwellings through to the industrial heritage of the tin industry.
