Spoil tip

Devon

Spoil tip is a low granite peak on Dartmoor's central plateau, its name reflecting the practical rather than romantic character of the moor. The tor itself is modest in stature, but its granite crown catches the light and offers a sense of purpose to a walk across the open moorland around it.

The approach is straightforward across typical Dartmoor terrain. From this vantage point, the landscape unfolds in all directions: rolling moorland, distant ridgelines, and the sense of space that defines the high moor. It is a useful waypoint rather than a destination, but worth knowing if you are exploring this quieter corner of Dartmoor.
