South Brent Parish Council

South Brent is a village on the southern fringe of Dartmoor, sitting in the valley of the River Avon within the South Hams district. Larger than most Dartmoor-edge settlements, it acts as a gateway to the southern moor and retains the feel of a small market town, with a good range of shops, a railway station on the Exeter to Plymouth line, and a strong sense of community identity. The parish takes in the outlying hamlets of Aish, Harbourneford and Lutton along with numerous farms spread across the surrounding countryside. At its centre stands St Petroc's Church, a Grade I listed building dating from around the 12th century, with a distinctive tower visible across the village. South Brent Parish Council, based at the Village Hall on Station Approach, is the elected authority for the parish, covering matters from footpaths and open spaces to planning consultation and community grants, and works alongside South Hams District Council and Devon County Council.
